On Sunday, May 23, 2010, join Governor Jack Markell, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons, and Wilmington Mayor Jim Baker as they participate in the second annual Race For a Better Delaware. This 5k family-based run/walk at the Shipyard Shops of the Wilmington Riverfront highlights the efforts of the "Better Delaware" initiative to promote volunteerism.
It also supports the unique efforts of the Jefferson Awards to recognize "unsung heroes" by raising funds to provide scholarships to Delaware high school students who are leaders in volunteerism. This scholarship fund will be administered by the Delaware Community Foundation.
The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Delaware ranks 37th in volunteerism. Help the Governor prove that Delaware is one of the nation's most giving.
